Laser cutting head is a module of laser cutting machine that focuses the laser beam onto the material being cut. It is typically made up of a nozzle and lens assembly that is mounted on a moving arm or gantry, which directs the laser beam to the exact location where the cut is to be made.

Collimating lens expands the beam and sends it forward in relatively parallel beams. It is to control beam diameter and focal point location. Focusing lens mounts on a collimator and either shrinks or magnifies the spot at a specific working distance. Collimating lenses are curved optical lenses that make parallel the light rays that enter spectrometer setup.

The focusing lens is the last optic in the laser path, before it hits the workpiece. Its main role is to focus the laser beam to a specific focal length (FL) - depending on the application. Therefore, the focal length - that is dictated by the radiuses and curvatures of the lens - is its most important feature.
